New appointment in Piccadilly

We’re looking forward to working on the refurbishment of the ground floor reception area of this Grade II listed building in the Mayfair conservation area, near Green Park, in the City of Westminster.

4 S Architecture have been appointed to prepare design proposals to help the owners improve the lettable appeal of the listed building and reposition it for today’s contemporary office tenants, whilst acknowledging its historic setting. We’ve been asked to create a refined, luxurious and elegant entrance experience to the building’s tenants, with a hotel lobby feel.

The building was built in 1780 as a town house for the 7th Earl of Barrymore and later operated as a hotel by various organisations from 1814 to the 1950s, when it slowly started to be converted into office use, initially used by a paper manufacturer.

The initial scope will look at the ground floor split level entrance area along with the main grand staircase to the first floor level, and down to the lower ground floor, along with the accessibility and fire safety of the reception areas.

We look forward to sharing more as we delve into the interesting history of this building to inspire our new design proposals.

In the meantime, visit our Grosvenor Place project page if you’d like to see one of our other Grade II listed refurbishments that is now nearing completion.
