We are pleased to report that our Sunnyhill Road project in the Sunnyhill Road Conservation Area is on site.

We will now be helping our clients navigate the construction process by collaborating with the contractor to resolve any unforeseen site circumstances and ensure that the desired quality is delivered.

Our client’s love of Mid-Century design guided our proposals for the extension to this semi-detached Victorian property. The design draws inspiration from the curves and circles often found in Mid-Century art and architecture yet sits comfortably beside the traditional building. This is achieved through its scale, window proportions and the use of buff brickwork on the exterior which is tonally similar to the London Stock brick that the host building is clad in.

Circular rooflights will drop pools of light into the darker areas of the floor plan and slide across the space throughout the course of the day. A curve to the new extension’s rear garden facing corner softens the design, and gently leads occupants to the side access route. Stacked brickwork externally are echoed internally with vertically stacked tiles for the kitchen backsplash and island.

Over the planning approval process we worked closely with the council’s case officer to address their initial concerns about the contemporary aluminium framed windows proposed. We provided evidence and site analysis of why they were suitable for the contemporary extension and successfully secured permission for this contemporary scheme.

We worked closely with our client to develop a design which was unique to their tastes and way of living and are looking forward to seeing it take shape over the course of the next few months.
